Sarah Hurwitz served as the chief speechwriter for First Lady Michelle Obama from 2010 to 2017, helping her craft her widely acclaimed speeches and traveling with her across America and around the world. Before working with Mrs. Obama, Sarah served as a senior speechwriter for President Barack Obama, chief speechwriter for then-Senator Hillary Clinton during her 2008 presidential campaign, and a speechwriter for candidates in the 2004 presidential campaign cycle and for a U.S. senator.

Hurwitz has been profiled in The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, and The Guardian; interviewed on BBC’s Newshour; and featured in The Forward as one of 50 Jews who impacted American life in 2016. She is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School.
