"Our young troops and their families have done everything their country has asked of them. Their lives have been changed forever by war, but their dreams haven't changed at all. They want to raise their children, own a home, go to school, find work and even find new ways to contribute. Most of all, they want to be good citizens. They want to reconnect and renew their relationship to their local communities. Let us ensure each of them has ample opportunities to do so. We will have a stronger generation of veterans and a stronger nation for it."

-Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Michael Mullen (ret.)

During the Community Blueprint Summit for Change, "All the Way Home: The Blueprint for Meaningful Community Response," participants will immerse themselves in exploration of bridging the military civilian divide. Topics include military and civilian partnership and collaboration, coordination of services and care, trends and research on challenges facing service members, veterans and their families, as well as scalable and replicable solutions to those challenges. Points of Light leverages the expertise of proven, successful practitioners and national leaders in the military space to provide a platform for open dialogue, learning and relationship building.

The Community Blueprint Summit for Change is specifically designed for individuals who are interested in community-based solutions for meeting the needs of service members, veterans and their families. The event will include networking opportunities, a challenging opening session that frames critical issues in the sector, thoughtful plenary presentations and engaging workshops. The Community Blueprint Summit for Change will inspire and equip attendees to:

  • Begin to change the conversation in America as it relates to the military community and work to identify the military community as a community asset;
  • Return home ready to create opportunities for the military and civilian communities to join together in one common goal: to provide the right resources to our service members, veterans and their families at the right time
  • Implement proven, impactful community based solutions
  • Challenge and recruit others in their communities to join forces and take action
