SERVICE PROJECTS
The Atlanta Host Committee has organized two separate community service projects for conference participants that will take place during the Immersion Learning Session time of 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2. Transportation will be available to all sites. Please sign up for the project of your choice through the registration process.
Samaritan House

Organization Overview: Samaritan House of Atlanta, founded in 1986, transforms lives by helping homeless men and women achieve self-sufficiency through personalized employment readiness and life stabilization programs. Samaritan House of Atlanta serves noontime meals to homeless men and women; Helps homeless men and women receive resources, training, and support to re-enter the workforce; Assists 100 chronically homeless men and women in securing benefits, housing, and mental health services; manages Community Voice Mail for over 550 mailboxes
Project Activities: Painting (interior & exterior); landscaping; building repairs; wall mural; etc.
KIPP WAYS Academy

Organization Overview: KIPP West Atlanta Young Scholars (WAYS) Academy is one of over fifty college-preparatory KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) schools operating in low-income urban and rural communities throughout the country. The school's mission is to prepare students for top quality high schools, colleges, and the competitive world beyond by instilling in each student a commitment to scholarship, teamwork, integrity, and other "WAYS to success." Today, the school is serving approximately 320 students in grades five through eight.
Project Activities: Landscaping; outdoor learning environments repair and build; wall murals; classroom enhancements, etc.
